Ford 601 workmaster won t start. We ordered a tube up kit but wanted to ask if anyone has suggestions. Our good old tractor is no longer needed. The 601 is normally a 6 volt positive ground system, however, I believe that the diesel version of that tractor is a 12 volt negative ground. But why would I have all that fuel in my air intake tube - would it be because of excess choking when I was trying to start it 20 times? This post was edited by JoeTractor1 on 09/24/2021 at 05:10 pm. Dec 13, 2021 · heard a little grinding when starting the last few times, nor when I try to start, I can hear the starter spinning, but not engaging, I pulled the starter off , and about a 1/4 of the bendix is worn off, I took it to a starter repair shop and he replaced the bendix, I put it back on the tractor So Recently my 1950s Ford 601 Workmaster hasn't been running in awhile, it has having carb issues, so me and my father thought it wasn't getting gas and added a fuel filter in the fuel line it has been sputtering and sputtering and adjusting the carb, then it ran really good for 10 seconds then it quit.
